Best Race and Class?

Going to start playing soon and wanted to know what works the best. First I want to level and then PvP later. Any help wouold be cool.

The Tempet of set is the dominant class right now in both PVE and PVP. A ranger is good to start with but eventually starts to suck lol.

The barbarian is great for DPS but kind of disappointed with only wearing light amor. I mean cmon that almost makes them squishy.

I like my ranger. Ranged DPS and can melee with a shield. The only thing is I wish they had a pet like hunters in WoW. That would rule!

Yeah barbarians did get nerfed but many of the classes are getting a major tweak.
