Guild Wars, Whats Going On?
It seems at least to me that Guild Wars is on cruse control. News has slowed and updates aren't as frequent. The fight against WoW is done and they have excepted defeat and they are doing all this on purpose!
They have a good reason and I'll get to that more later but I think this is completely wrong, Guild Wars was gaining players at an amazing rate and quickly becoming a top game and they killed it off. Why did they do this... because Guild Wars 2 is coming!
While I can't wait for Guild Wars 2 I can't help but think they killed off Guild Wars way to soon, the last release was Guild Wars: Eye of the North and once it was released the kill off started imo. Guild Wars is losing players fast and with Guild Wars 2 release date still not announced NCsoft shot themselves in the foot by crippling one of there biggest money makers while they wait for the next big money maker thats in the works.
In the mean time NCsoft has reported like many other developers loss in money and have made job cuts. A couple time it came into question if Guild Wars 2 will ever happen because the company could go under.
Which brings me back to why did they cripple there biggest money maker when the new one was still so far off?

You are right, Guild Wars did have a lot of momentum going for them when they announced the sequel. I thionk they would have been better served sticking with the campaigns. For example, Guild Wars Nightfall has been the top ranked online game on Game Ogre for over a year now. Why not keep building on that?Posted 05-17-2009 at 08:07 PM by ogreman

Exactly, they could of worked on a new campaign on the side or a new expansion pack or just new areas in existing games while they worked on Guild Wars 2 to keep the money coming in or at the vary least keep people interested.
It doesn't seem like a good idea to cut off your best game when it's at it's peak and the "next" one is still a couple year away from release.
I was hoping they would tell us something about Guild Wars 2 at e3... like a release date
but they aren't attending
I wonder how much longer Guild Wars 2 is going to be in development.Posted 05-18-2009 at 08:12 AM by Aaddron
