it seems to me that there is too big a gap between the haves and havenots in mmo. what is the best p2p mmo after wow? is it war? only if you like pvp. its not age of conan either. lord of the rings online doesnt have good enough pvp for me.
on the free side, not counting runescape, whats after guild wars? perfect world is popular here but i wouldnt say its a number 2 or 3 in terms of popularity. maple story? i doubt it.
anyway, just my mad ravings

If you count all the Perfect World games, Perfect World is the biggest FTP MMO and possibly the biggest MMO in terms of players. At last count there was 22-25 million people playing all versions of Perfect World.
WoW and RuneScape are at the top... I think Maplestory is up there too. Guild Wars has went down hill some but I don't think War has passed it in current active accounts... a ton signed up when it was released but at least a quarter have probably quit or don't play as much. I expect it to catch up with Guild Wars but never reach WoW's current state.Posted 01-05-2009 at 03:22 PM by Aaddron

You are right there does appear to be a stall in MMO gaming. I like to believe that developers are working on the next greatest release. League of Legends is a excellent free game in open beta and very close to release. They are a bit stream-lined for a MMO but I like it.
Aion is a game that may change how we view MMOs but we have to wait and see.
Heck Blizzard is rumored to be working on a new hush hush game that has nothing to do with WoW.. I would love to see a well done Starcraft MMO but what ever it is im sure it will be excellent.
Heck next year some time Square Enix will announce their new MMO. Im looking forward to that.
To tell the truth im good with what we have now and im happy waiting for the new stuff. It is not like MMOs are going to die out. I think it is going to explode real soon!Posted 11-14-2009 at 12:07 AM by Palidine

. We need variety in MMOs.
