Cross Fire Versus Combat Arms

This is a second round match in the Online Shooter Showdown.

The Match-Up

The second round of the Online Shooter Showdown definitely started off with a bang as two leading Online FPS went head-to-head. The review scores were close all week long, but Cross Fire maintained a healthy lead through out the entire week. Cross Fire ended up with significantly more reviews and votes than Combat Arms. Not surprisingly, Cross Fire's Ghost Mode was mentioned several times in comments as a reason why it was chosen over Combat Arms.

Cross Fire will now move onto the the semi-finals. After defeating both Counter-Strike Source and Combat Arms, Cross Fire has to be considered a favorite to win the entire tournament.

Comment: FPS game with incredible display of the image. Conditions at battle almost the same battle with reality. Most interesting, here does not kick out a high ping player. So to give everyone a chance to play. According to me this far better than other online FPS game. And even u can play it at standard graphic card. Not like Combat Arms that require high video graphics, where not all people have. I hope Crossfire will be the winner.

Comment: Both are extremely good, but I prefer Crossfire because of Ghost Mode, little bugs, however both are getting hackers now, with Crossfire having fewer.

Comment: good modes, bad players, and weapons, ur hopeless if ur new cause everyone else's got better weapons than you, and 45% of player population are hackers mainly speed hacks.

Comment: Yea, you can say Ghost made is awesome all you want, and i'd agree with you. But that can't save this game from all it's other faults.

1. Amazingly annoying weapon buying system, Really what the hell is with it? On average it will take me 50+ hours to get enough gold to get a weapon, and that's not including repairing my other weapon, as doing that would add another 100 hours or so.

You gain GP at a horribly slow rate, and that combined with outrageously high weapon costs is a very bad combo.

2. Ordinary graphics. Now I know a lot of people to really care about graphics, but if i'm going to be spending large amounts of time grinding for a single weapon, I at least want something nice to look at.

These graphics look like something out of 1999.

3. And the games biggest problem? LAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I average 270 ping which renders the game unplayable for me, and I rarely see people with anything lower than 120, which for a fast paced shooter is unacceptable.

And the good things? There is only one, Ghost Mode.

Now i'm the first to say Ghost Mode rules, butte lag kills it epically, it takes me twice as long as some people for my hard earned knife sots to even hit them.

Ghost Mode is good, but it can't save this game.

Comment: Despite what people say, this game is easily the best free shooter out there, with the possible exception of Quake Live.

To start, this game as excellent graphics for free game. While they definitely aren't Crysis good, it doesn't pain my eyes in anyway to look at them.

Second, and probably my favorite thing about this game, is the maps. They have got to by some of the most well thought out maps out of an shooter, free or otherwise. They have many routes, are balanced, spots for both campers and rushers alike.

Weapons systems are cool, and there is a wide and balanced selection available, along with some customizable options.

Hacker's are getting banned at an excellent rate, hacks and glitches are getting patched, there is now an in game kicking system that doesn't require elite mod. The black market weapons do give a slight advantage, but in game there is very little difference between paying and non-paying players.

Giving it a 10 because in a week I've only ran into one hacker, and everyone in game room reported him. Checking on site, I see he's been banned.

Comment: Combat Arms was one of the top online shooters when it released but hackers and bugs have brought it down. It's still a great game but can do better with some work.

Comment: Both are good shooters, combat arms having an advantage in graphics, but it's not enough for me to rate it over Crossfire unfortunately.
