Quake Live Versus Call of Duty 4

This is a second round match in the Online Shooter Showdown.

The Match-Up

Although they are very different online shooters, Quake Live and Call of Duty 4 had a very close match that was not determined until voting had closed. There was no clear favorite this week as both games were usually praised highly during voting. In fact, both games received reviews scores over 8. In the end, Call of Duty managed to get the win by earning more forum votes than Quake Live and by having a slightly higher review score. This outcome is somewhat surprising since Call of Duty 4 was a last minute replacement for Battlefield Heroes. Batytlefield Heroes had to be replaced in the tournament because it is still in Closed Beta. Now, Call of Duty 4 has knocked out one of the favorites to win the entire tournament and advances to the next round.

Comment: New game, not many people even know about it. Graphics look rather cartoony, and I highly doubt that it will live up to the hype. It won't receive any competitive play in terms of leagues I don't think, and who knows where the community is at.

Comment: Great game except the matching system to have you play equal skill level opponents does not work and you contently end up fighting players a lot better than you.

Comment: IMO, Quake Live could win the tournament. QL has a small download but its not much. I am having a great time playing a game whenever I feel like playing a few mins.

Comment: Absolutely amazing game. Ported onto PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, many people around the world dub it the next successor to the CS series. It's competitive play lie's in almost every league, even though CoD:World at War came out already. This game will be around for a long time, and it's amazing graphics aren't hurting it.
