The fourth annual MMORPG Showdown is now underway. This year has more Free MMORPGs entered in the tournament than in previous years. A few familiar faces such as Eve Online and Maple Story are not part of the mix this year in favor of younger MMOs. Cliche or not, the Online Shooter Shjowdown ended with a bang. Both Cross Fire and Team Fortress 2 defeated the best Online FPS games to make it into the finals. Voting and reviews were split the entire week. Surprisingly, review scores in the Review Directory voting stayed high the entire week. The Match-Up

This was a fairly even match-up between two of the most solid online shooters. This can be seen by the fact that both games ended up with an impressive review score of 8.25. Forum voting, however, was not as close as Team Fortress enjoyed a sizable lead for the majority of the week. Thus, the forum voting propels Team Fortress 2 into the finals.

This match was actually much closer than the final score indicates. The lead in voting was tight at first until Cross Fire started pulling away. Battlefield 2142 staged a late comeback, but it was not enough. Based on review scores, Battlefield 2142 jumped off to a great start, but never lead again after Cross Fire passed it up. This week's battle was a match between two of the best retail shooters to come out in the past few years. Call of Duty 4 took the early lead, but Crysis fought back to even the score and grab the lead on the final day of voting. Review scores were tough as well.
