Here is a quick guide to preventing lag from overcoming you:
1. Get a good internet connection...even wired if you have too!
2. If you DO get lots of lag, restart your computer, it can help a ton!
3. Don't play on the following maps:
Old Castle 2
Orient City (Halloween)
They cause tons of lag.
4. Don't use the internet while you are playing. It will slow you WAY down!

lag is mostly caused by the server's inability to handle the load of the numerous online gamers
limiting bandwidth use, is the easy way out for you, but if other people don't do it, it is often of little use
overall speed is determined by the speed of the weakest link in the chain (that chain being the server - the provider - and your computer)
with server-side coding, data is most often construed by the server, with client-side coding, the burden more often lies on your computer
except for things like the graphics packages and cd's most data and code is server-side, which means the game server is often the weakest link
rarely is the provider the weakest link except for maybe mobile phone users on the internet
and only if the coding is client-side should you really have to worry that the lag is caused by what you doPosted 10-19-2009 at 06:52 AM by shugo
