I would suggest Black Moon Chronicles.

This game is hand drawn (and looks great) and should be able to run on almost any computer. The only down side is the community is just forming and there are not a huge amount of people playing it yet. On the up side this means you won't be pked to death as you lvl and you can easily become one of the top players. The story line and game play are good enough to play solo, but most people playing are noobs so you could also look for a group.
