Independent developer utilizes foliage solution for debut title Earthrise
April 29, 2008 – Sofia, Bulgaria – Masthead Studios, the innovative independent game development studio based in Bulgaria, announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with Interactive Data Visualization (IDV) to use SpeedTree, the industry leader in virtual foliage, for the design of their post-apocalyptic MMO Earthrise to enhance development in environmental flora.
“SpeedTree provides our team with the freedom to create the plants and trees of Earthrise with a very rich library of assets,” said Atanas Atanasov, CEO of Masthead Studios. “The combination of frequent updates and a significant collection of included models contribute to rapid integration and overall environment development.”
Earthrise is the post-apocalyptic science fiction title to be released in 2009 featuring a skill-based advancement system, sophisticated PVP mechanics, and a player-driven economy. Masthead Studios is developing the title on their own proprietary engine in an effort to create an MMO with unmatched graphics and player freedom to provide the ultimate gaming experience.
