I think the Browser games will rule the industry, cause the game client will be put on Server. Agree?

Maybe but look at RuneScape you can only do so much to a game that has no download. Now if browser game ever have the graphics and game play of some of today's games (Perfect World, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars...) and still have no download then yes they will take over the industry but I don't think that will happen any time soon if it happens at all.

MMORPG's have not yet reached there peak. Games like WoW can be improved upon and will. Better types will come out, being able to be designed judging by the flaws in the current big mmorgp's. Slowly mmorpg's will probabaly evolve away from the basic fantasy format, but there is still much room for improvment within the current genre.

definitely hard to agree, just think about it, how sophisticated browser games could reach. They just can compare with solidly-downloaded games at the same level right now.

Browser games would have to come a long way to surpass downloadbale games in terms of quality. Not sure if they will ever do it.

I agree. Finding a decent browser game is pretty hard but at least you don't have to waste time downloading a game just find out it's horrible.

what about online browser games, they are declining but there is still a following for these games. Is this the type of market you are asking about?

wait - yes, now I've read the end of the post - well what do you call terrible - some people used to really like shadow puppets as entertainment until TV came along - now it's only remote villiages far far away that deal in such things.

IMO a good browser game is not graphics but gameplay and community - if you can get both working you have a successful game. If not, it is awful as Eviran says. but your expectations surely need to be clear. A strategy game is not a shoot-em-up. A 3 min pong game is not a 3 month strategic investment of time and active imagination.

browser games cant really be the future because there are here now and have been for many years. however, browser games do cater more to large numbers of people than other games...if a game ever combines great gameplay with graphics of something like guild wars then it would be the future or even runescape on steriods rofl. course the ultimate would be in wow in a browser.

I've always found that the graphics are great for immersion but after a while of playing games I get annoyed at the graphics, and want to turn them down or off to get to the underlying game mechanics and just play that. Browser games kinda are stripped down to the game mechanics actually, and then the game lives or dies as a result.

I think there is no future of MMORPG's actually. You can't really progress them and one day everyone will realize that your just doing the same thing over and over. Then FPS' will rule..>:D

Well I hope the future is more games that will be like darkfall but I don't wanna start a big sandbox revolution thing on this site.

there's a general decline in traffic everywhere from what I can see - this decline is endemic and strangely follows the stock market path of ...

    down
    ... down
    ...... down
    ...... stable
    ........down
    ........stable
    ......... down
    .........stable
    .......... down down down

    could be messy IMO

I think everyone loves and hates them. Let's look into runescape, when it started out I want to say it had around 300k-400k people playing all around the day. They take away content that was wanted and now your lucky if you see 200k, they add content similar to content they took away and you get a slight increase then drop, stable, drop and so on until you can't do anymore to your storyline of the game.

It'll just be more and more innovative stuff in future MMORPGs, and changes in existing ones. Darkfall and WoW: Cataclysm are examples.
