The first match of this year's Showdown may have started off rather slow and lop-sided, but it definitely did not end that way. The fourth annual MMORPG Showdown is now underway. This year has more Free MMORPGs entered in the tournament than in previous years. A few familiar faces such as Eve Online and Maple Story are not part of the mix this year in favor of younger MMOs. It should interesting as RuneScape looks to repeat as Champion the way that Guild Wars did in the first two Showdowns.

Cliche or not, the Online Shooter Shjowdown ended with a bang. Both Cross Fire and Team Fortress 2 defeated the best Online FPS games to make it into the finals. Voting and reviews were split the entire week. Surprisingly, review scores in the Review Directory voting stayed high the entire week. This was a fairly even match-up between two of the most solid online shooters. This can be seen by the fact that both games ended up with an impressive review score of 8.25. Forum voting, however, was not as close as Team Fortress enjoyed a sizable lead for the majority of the week. Thus, the forum voting propels Team Fortress 2 into the finals.
