I think the debate option is a very very good one - helps you get a good feel for an issue instead of it being a flame war, although I think a loosely held 500 word limit might be a nicer idea.

I don't like the word limit, it limits our entries in length and also in effectiveness.

I have to agree. Unless it gets out of hand with posts that reach the character limit on the forum, the debaters should have the freedom to express themselves with as much explanation as they need.

Lets not make the convincing argument debates as official debates. Those type of debates can be awarded points but they shouldn't be official unless forum members can vote on the debate.

I am thinking about about making an official debate over what I am seeing in the Showdown threads and reviews.
