Default Beyond Protocol's Massive Overhaul

Major gameplay info from the game that won the Best Online Strategy Tournament here on the GameOgre Forums.

Beyond Protocol watchers, fans and junkies, prepare for the biggest patch to date. This patch brings Beyond Protocol to its final stages before launch. Everything from bug fixes, to overhauls of entire systems, to completely new content and features have been included in this patch. The following are a few bullets of what's been changed followed by brief descriptions of each.
-Technology Builders

-Technology Builders
The new tech builders now allow you to manipulate just about every aspect of your designs with the slide of a value. These added values allow you to craft the weapon you really want while exponentially increasing the number of usable, optimum and truly unique designs. We have also thrown in the ability to sort your resources by best match. Now you can see, with the press of a button, which researched mineral or alloy will fit best in the slot you need to fill. The value of the components can be stretched by the player, leaving the ease of the sliders behind and making the researchers of the game truly valuable because they stretch the component capabilities to their limits.

-Naval Units
Admiral, you now have your vessels of choice. Whether it be an enormous carrier, a discrete submarine, a lumbering destroyer or simply a naval engineer, it is now possible to put units in and under the water. Let the sinking of battleships commence!

-Additional Models and Traits
There are now various forms of residential facilities, power generators, factories and more. Of course that's not all, in order to further encourage diversity in the BP Universe, we have added certain characteristics to various hull and facility designs in the game. For some this means added maneuverability, for others bonus cargo space, several buildings come with increased bay door speed, while power generator hulls actually multiply power produced by an engine. There are many wide spread bonuses, so check them all and find the one that serves your purposes best!


-Arsenal Increase
Were pulse beams, solid beams, and projectiles beginning to bore you? Say "Hello" to bombs and "Welcome back" to missiles. There are now more ways to destroy and humiliate your enemies. In addition, weapons now have explosions on impact, leave brief scars on their victims, and provides combat with a new sparkle. These two videos are a quick preview. They are embedded in this email if you notice big blank boxes.

-Guild Unit Designation
Units now have a toggle, next to the new "Alert on Stop" button, which allows them to be controlled by guild members. This feature allows you to lend units to your guild, while giving you the option to maintain control at the push of a button. This should strengthen the resolve of guilds exponentially. Make it green and be part of the team!
-New Rules for Colonies
Not only are 400k colonies no longer the standard, there are also other changes. There is now a building CP. This value is the unit CP divided by 5. Exceeding this value will increase the colony's expense as with unit CP. As already mentioned, there are now more facility models, so you will be able to build more diverse and functional colonies. The result of a no vagrancy bill has created a maximum population for all colonies. This number tends to be about 115% of a colony's total residency. Lastly the budget screen now gives you several more options in organizing your colonies. The first is the option to sort the screen by ascending or descending Type, Environment Name, Colony Name, Revenue, Expense, or Tax Rate. The second is the new "Hostile Environment" indicator. This will show you which environments are currently under attack, for those days when it seems the universe is out to get you!

-Agents Have Faces
That's right! We have implemented a random face generator for your agents. Each and every agent receives their own unique face, so if remembering names is not your strong point, you can now manage your agency by face. Will your emotions or visual tastes sway your team creation? Can you really send the sweet little girl into a prison full of enemy soldiers and convicts?
-Graphic Card Fixes
Those of you who suffered from graphic card related display problems in the past should no longer need to endure "low to no" quality settings. If you left the game because of this, we encourage you to come back and try the game again.
