Have you tried several games only to find that the user base or the game content seem to be
the same everywhere you go? Want to join a gaming community where the older experienced players actually care about helping new players play the game. I played several games myself and found a lot of them get boring fast. But, I came across a game that has the best of both worlds. The content changes weekly and sometimes monthly the staff actually watches for new players that need help. Want to join a game like that? The game is called "Lands of Hope", its not your average run of the mill game. I'm an experienced gamer and this is one those games i will come back to again and again. Come and see for yourself, Lands of Hope | Massively Multiplayer Browser RPG. You will be glad you came. Christmas event currently active as of November 26, 2008 til after new years. |

Some Features:
This is a PBBG (Persistent Browser Based Game); it includes 17 realms, for a total of 170,000 tiles, more than 45 professions and 38 races, 1,000s of spells and styles, profession and race evolution, and 1000 levels and 10000 sublevels. It has a great community and is a mix of a 2D and Text-Based Game. First off, this is a FREE game and is playable in Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and even some versions of Opera. To progress beyond level 100, however, there is a $15 USD one time fee - a bargain for the amount of content you will unlock, in my opinion. If money is a serious problem and you really, really want to progress beyond level 100, don't let that stop you from playing - you can sometimes win or buy Hope Credits (HC, valued at $5 USD) in-game. You also have 5 character slots, so just imagine the possibilities ![]() Professions (or Classes) There are 7 starting classes (available without buying anything) - 6 Combat classes (Fighter, Rogue, Archer, Caster, Healer, Animator) & 1 Non-combat class (Apprentice). Animators are generally regarded as the hardest of the combat classes, and Apprentices are more geared towards experienced players who already have a feel for the game. Fighters, Rogues and Archers use melee and/or ranged weapons to fight (later evolutions may use spells more exclusively), while Casters and Healers use spells and melee weapons to fight (later evolutions of Healers may use ranged or melee weapons more exclusively). Animators craft pets to fight for them and use magic to buff and restore life to them and also use melee weapons. Apprentices cannot participate in combat, to make up for this, they get a 12 second queue time per item (which will decrease by one second every evolution). They also get special experience bonuses, artisan crafting bonuses and special clothes that give a tremendous bonus to gathering and crafting skills. Evolution There are 2 types of evolution - Race & Profession. Profession Evolution - Except for Animators and Apprentices, each of the starting classes named above has 3 distinct evolution lines. Each line will get a different set of skills (with usually at least one unique to just that line). You can evolve three times, at levels 50, 350 and 650. Each evolution changes your stat growths, so it is recommended you keep up the skills you will need to evolve. In-game, you can go to Library > Professions > Profession Evolution to find more information on the skills required to evolve. Race Evolution - Every class has access to race evolutions, which depend upon what allegiance you have joined. Neutrals, Exiles and Society have access to Humanoid evolutions, with 5 distinct evolution lines. One of these leaves you untrackable if you are a Neutral and have committed no crimes. Reapers have access to Undead evolutions, of which there are also 5 distinct lines. Except in one instance, both the Humanoid and Undead race evolution lines give the same bonuses. You can evolve your race at level 200, 400, 600 and 800 (unless you take the untrackable line (Humanoid only), then you can only evolve at 200 and 600). In-game, you can go to Library > Races > Race Evolution or type /search human race evolution or /search reaper race evolution for more information. Realms There are 4 realms available without paying - Knotwood Valley, Sandydale Basin, River Estate and Demonic Plains. Knotwood Valley and Sandydale Basin are part of the ‘standard’ realms. In all, there are 12 standard realms - 11 of which can be unlocked by anyone, 1 of which you must be in an Allegiance to unlock. River Estate (also the Monthly Challenge Realm) and Demonic Plains are ‘challenge’ realms, of which there are 3. The other challenge realm only occurs once per year, on Halloween. Challenge realms can be accessed by anyone, regardless of account status. Expansion Realms - There are currently 3 expansions, soon to be a 4. 2 of the released expansions have new class(es) associated with them, as will the new one coming out. Each realm is composed of 10,000 tiles - using a coordinate system x and y - whose minimum and maximum values are 1 and 100. Levels There are 1000 levels and 10000 sublevels. Sublevels are constituted of 5,000,000 exp each and are gained after you hit 1K. When you reach 1K, you are rewarded with the title Hero. When you reach 1K.1K (Level 1000 with 1000 sublevels), you are rewarded with the title Legend. And when you reach 1K.10K (1000.* in the level rankings), you are rewarded with the title of demigod. Each of these titles also earns you a statue in the appropriate building at 34 62 Knotwood Valley. There are currently two demigods, and two players are extremely close to sublevel 5000. Skills There are 18 non-profession specific tradeskills (7 Gathering and 11 Crafting) available without paying or buying an expansion. There are a further 3 profession specific skills available without paying - Artisan for Apprentices, Animation for Animators and Traps for the Archer > Tracker evolution line. For those who have paid for the game and can progress beyond level 100, there is another skill, Dungeon Mastery, obtainable at level 395. There are a further 3 profession specific skills available to paid accounts. The Healer > Archpriest line gets Surgery (somewhat like Husbandry, except you can use it on Humanoids) at level 650, the Rogue > Killer line gets Poisoning (which are like inscriptions which act over time) and the Rogue > Bard line gets Subterfuge, which allows them to craft disguises. |

The Afterlife has now been released:
The Afterlife is the fourth official expansion pack for Lands of Hope. Similar to the JW expansion all players will be able to level up by fighting undead monsters and solving quests and tasks in this new land. As well as over 30 new quests and new pets this expansion pack introduces a new profession called the Hag. Hag Features: * Enchantress (evo 50) o Charms and Hexes, the ability to use powerful spells and craft special charms. * Temptress (evo 350) o Slavemastery, the ability to tame Humanoids through seduction. * Witch (evo 650) o Bewitching, craft special magical infusions to apply to equipment to gain equipping magic buffs. * Enchanted Weapons * Special crafting ingredients There is no side to take in this expansion. However this expansion reveals a new faction "The Knights Templar" and includes various special camps with different NPCs. Monster Addition The monsters in this realm are fed from a curious power source called the Lifestream, the more kills that are made in this realm the more powerful the lifestream becomes and ultimately the harder to kill the monsters become. Continuing this theme is a level 2000 boss called "Darkness" with over 100,000HP and a special quest to enable you to kill him. |
