There's no doubt, they simplified it a lot. This tends to happen with overly ambitious games. They propose a lot but can only deliver on so much. With Spore being a fixed single player game, I pretty much doubt they're going to patch in a lot of the things in that video that weren't included in the final game. Too bad too...
I am interested in this patch, the description I found said nothing (that I saw) about DRM, I wonder if that's just their unwillingness to admit their mistake!

I think EA did it on purpose so they could have a couple expansions and make more money.

That's possible, the best expansion though would be a more meaningful end game. I just couldn't stay interested in space, and from what I saw it didn't matter what you did before that, you always ended up having the same beginning quest... If they managed to improve that somehow, they might have a viable expansion, other than that... I doubt anyone would buy it. Course', that's just my opinion...

Well if they add some of the stuff in the video then they will add at least underwater city's, and improved cell stage(first stage). Hopefully they add more verity to animations from what I seen so far all the gun attacks look a like. I think I'm going to wait until the Wii version to get Spore.

They are planning on an expansion which is no surprise but the shock is that they think the DRM backlash is no big deal. I for one did not buy it because of DRM and I am glad after hearing that Spore was not good anyway!
