Wow, pretty similar to the next gen console wars here with plenty of Runescape fanboys. Honestly, we're comparing GW-a game with a development budget in the millions with RS, a free browser title game. But before anyone calls me biased, I'll explain why I prefer GW over RS with clear reasons so I don't have to repeat (I've played both for roughly 2 years and have been mem for RS briefly, just to add). Firstly, yes, I know graphics sometimes don't matter but for me, they do. And let's be frank, GW>RS in terms of graphics. ALSO, for people that complain about loooong loading times, it's not really. I understand that the majority of you are probably kids with no income so it's safe to say that you might not have an Intel Core i7 and a Nvidia GeForce 9800. But when you do invest in a really good computer, GWs loads pretty darn quick and runs flawlessly. (Of course, you'll need a good connection plan and modem/router, too.) Secondly, gameplay. While I can say that RS and GW both have excellent gameplay, both definitely have grind but somtimes-somtimes-GWs grind is more managable for me as rather than sticking your arm out repeatly and slashing/hacking/defending in RS, GWs is so much better to watch and listen to (yeah, sorry, but I find RS's music and sounds annoying.) In terms of quests, yeah, RS has some truly innovative quests and is marginally better than GWs. However, GW has a party system and that just beats RS hands down as you can play with friends in a whole map by youselfs and share the exp gained. Sure, you can go to any area in RS and start fighting with a friend, but it'll never be as in depth as GWs. PVP is pretty different with RS having it's pros of a clear boundry to the wilderness and dropped items but c'mon, large scale guildwars and alliance battles comapred to RS's castle wars and 1 on 1 fights? You've got to be joking. I can't really rate the communities because both have their share of scammers, spammers and mixes of immature and mature users. (Though generally more spammers in RS because it is freely accessible from the web in contrast to a considerably pricey retail MMORPG.) I also love exploring in MMORPGS so GWs again beats RS hands down when it comes to size of the whole world. Finally, the skills system. Really, if you think RS is so called, "Indepth" or "deep" then sorry, but you're pretty much ignorant of MMORPGS around you. Someone in this thread mentioned RS having a huge market place, sure, but have you seen EVE online? That economy probably fluctuates more than the real world and you've got to be pretty smart at maths to work out inflation patterns and so forth. Further more, the skills system. I mean, seriously, I find GWs complicated enough already but when you see WoW's, now
THAT'S deep. In terms of interface, really now, you can't even have proper fullscreen with RS and you always have a map and a cross interface/chat system in the way. GW lets you decide what to put on and keeps it semi transparent for ease of use and convinience. Additoinally, you have a quick skill bar in GW so when I want to use a skill, then a magic spell, then some strength pots and health pots in quick succesion repeately, I just click a few keyboard buttons.

Sorry, long wall of text but that's my opinion. If you like RS, fine, by all means, continue playing it and enjoy it, it's your choice and I'll respect it.

Then again, just get a PS3 and play Call of Duty 4, problem solved
