    I think Samsung Galaxy tab is the best one.

    I would go for either the iPad or kindle fire. Kindle fire is currently the only android tablet that looks like it might have near the dedicated support of the ipad.

    iPad is the most polished, it's super smooth and has the best web browsing. It's two biggest faults is screen resolution/aspect ratio (1024×768, 4:3) and lack of flash in it's web browser. The screen resolution/aspect ratio causes HD video to play with huge black bars or in SD format and it cuts the sides off the video.

    Android tabs aren't as polished, don't have many tablet apps and web browsing is no where near as smooth as the iPad. It may have flash but it's vary buggy, some sites work better than others but overall it's not that great of an experience. The problems are purely software based, Android 3 is just not optimized enough.

    Wouldn't recommend a Kindle or Android eReader with the Kindle fire being $199.

    Kindle Fire looks to be a great little tablet, if Amazon can deliver on it's promises. Little worried about the lack of ram, only 512 vs 1gb in most tablets but seeing how Kindle Fire runs Android 2.3 instead of 3 it might not matter. I think on the low end side the two big contenders are Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire. Nook is the better value but if Amazon can get the app support and deliver a smooth experience, it wins hands down.

    All that said, I'd vote other if it was an option otherwise, voting Android eReader for Nook Tablet, I think the lack of RAM in the Kindle Fire is gonna result in subpar performance and Android 3 tablets are just not ready yet.

    I prefer iPad. I have to admit, Apple does a great job designing their products. The iPad is very popular, and would be my choice of device for almost anything, even watching movies and playing mobile games.

    6 years later this is still absolutely true and it's really sad. What the heck Google, web browsing has improved but app support and polish is still non-existent. iPad all the way, it's by far the best and most polished tablet experience... it's not even close. If you want something with more power, that can also do laptop stuff Surface isn't a bad way to go either but purely as a tablet they aren't even close... since they are heavier, less battery, less touch apps etc.
