Links and Survey Posts from New Members

Ok, been getting these for years and still get them to this day. There are a few different issues for these posts, but lets just go with the thread's title:

New members should not be advertising or asking help via posts without posting any first.

Mods will delete these and there are good reasons for that:

1. These get very spammy and will only attract more spam.
2. It is a form of advertising without permission.
3. The end result will not be effective because nobody knows the member. Which they take the time to answer your ads if you cant be a part of the community first.

Based on these we do not allow these type of threads. I even say to be a part of the community first, but that part seems to get ignored. One of the few exceptions was Tariel and her Otherworld game. She was able to continue to talk about game with great posts so the thread was a big success for about a year. For something like that, a link is fine. We even put the game in the directory.
