No, RPG's are getting more prominent as they are much easier to develop for mobile devices which eventually everyone will have.

I don't think it is that simple, because many players have preferences on which type of games they enjoy, including Online RPG. I will agree that MMORPGs has been dominating games for a long time, but if Online RPGs still exist at a level where people still play, then I don't see why those kinds of games would be dying.

if mmorpgs could be as personal to your character as rpgs -- mmorpgs should be like specifically rp games but more fun with friends

Older MMOS usually require a lot of time, something people don't have today. MMORPG as a genre will probably never die, but those older games will continue to struggle as they will keep losing players.

I think AE's development model allows an RPG to better sustain its player base ... since players can expect frequent updates ... however, they need to be able to sustain rich/interesting content ... which isn't easy to do

In terms of AQ3D (the RPG I mainly play these days), I hope AE improves the game mechanics in AQ3D, and then adds raids/pvp ... which would improve things drastically ... they then simply have to add new maps maybe once every 3 months and just run small events each week ... random boss spawns (e.g., invasions, plotline), special quest chains (e.g., scavenger, trivia), x2/x3 events (e.g., gold, drop rates, xp), etc.

More areas are cool, but having great mechanics to support it all is essential ... else players will very quickly get bored ...
