    The second official debate is over whether people scoring in the Review Directory for MMORPG Showdown 3 should give a game a 0 just so the other game can win instead of giving a fair review score for each game.

    This issue has been commented on in reviews and the forum threads. Now who wants to open debate on this and which side do you want to take?

    A poll will be added once the two debaters have been found to determine a winner.

    Simply scoring a 0 or a 10 without any review is not fair, I would even go as far as to call it cheating.

    There's a poll in on the forums for a reason, to vote. The review directory is for REVIEWS, not votes.

    Voteing shouldn't even be allowed in the reviews section in my opinion, you should have to give a fairly in-depth review, and list reasons why you give it a 0, which is pretty much impossible as I don't think any game deserves a 0.

    Scoring 1 or 10 is fair and more fun than the old boring way. With the old voting thing you have people canceling each other out. This way, each vote can count more!

    Is not scoring 0s and 10s just canceling each other out as well? Reviews should be honest and fair and you must support with solid reasoning. They should have a vote for a tie breaker or make it worth like 20% of the total score or something, not just full voting.

    Good points so far. Yes, 0s and 10s can cancel each other out too. I think its safe to say that the forums will have more of a say in determining a winner next year than they have this year.

    We might even try something like a Shooter Showdown in a few weeks that uses the forum more this time.

    Well, I meant have the same format as MMORPG Showdown but use online shooters instead of MMORPGs.

    If you have any ideas on that, feel free to post them. We can try to not use the Review Directory or just lessen its role this time.

    We might try something different with Shooter Showdown. If that works, we may do it for the next MMORPG Showdown.

    What we can do is take the final review score of the games each week and then multiply that by the percentage of votes received here on the forum. For example, a game with a review score of 9 that received 50% of the votes here would finish with a 4.5. Thus, voting here would play a substantially bigger role.

    its not right!

    I have no worries with people giving a game a 0 or a 10 (I am guilty of both the former and the latter when reviewing games), as long as they have a substantial reason to actually give the game such a ridicuously high/low rating. Seriously, rating a game a 10 because "I played it for 15 minutes and I like the graphics" is not a proper reason. I reckon ANY score that is a 0 or a 10 should have at least 20-30 lines of reasoning why (no I do not count paragraphs as lines!!!). It has to be a really good reason.

    I am not sure if I like the new voting in the shooter showdown. 0s and 10s were part of the fun and led to better voting. Combatarms vs Warrock was like a bazooka against a bb gun:p.
