    Nowadays, crafting, pets, mounts, etc. are staples of modern MMORPGs, not World of Warcraft. I don't think they really highlight the game as much, when you look at this game today, because practically any MMORPG would have those, so I would be more keen toward standout features.

    So, I would say the two features that really make World of Warcraft a favorite are:
    1. Factions (specifically different races like Blood Elf, etc.)
    2. Immersion filled with richness of story defined by the expansive fantasy world of Azeroth
