I'm looking for a free online strategy MMO, that doesn't require much time to be played (1 login per day), is not fantasy or scifi themed, has low technical requirements (i.e. can be played with a 9x OS), does not use flash and has a lively and good community.

Anyone know of such a game and where to find it?

idk if your into American Football but Goal Line Blitz fits your specifications.

Have you tried Tibia? You have to download it but the requirements are really low.

tried tibia, but its too much fantasy for my liking, silk road requirements are too high

    so anything else out there?

come on there's gotta be something right?

unfortunately it's too much like travian, which i don't like. Its a little better I know, but still not good enough for my liking. I've tried this game called lords recently and its a decent game, but a little too simple, so i'd love to find a new game to play. So anyone else know a good one?

Gameogre Conquest System! :D Love this game.

Dark Orbit? Hobo Wars? Hallway Wars? Navyfield? Allegiance?

Just listing loads of browser-based strategy games (except navyfield and allegiance aren't browser-based) I know, though you should try Dark Orbit or Hallway Wars first as they have more strategy than the others

hobo wars for some reason doesn't appeal to me. I read the reviews about dark orbit and allegiance and i don't think these games would suit me. might give a try on navyfield if requirements can be met. So i'll visit that site to see if it is.

Would you try Ikariam? It's a browser based game, looks like it is set in ancient rome where you build towns, gather resources, pillage other towns, trade, research new technologies etc. You can also join forums/chats and there are alliances of players that (if you find the right one) are quite social. Maybe this is up your alley? I have been playing for about 8 months, and I am completely hooked.

*ok i decided to try out your game

    -
    congratulations is misspelled

-when I click on an anchor in the guide (which is too concize for beginners), the top menu dissappears (design flaw)

-it's pay for turns (don't like that)

-you're mentioning it's a logic game, no gambling... are you telling me there's no randomness whatsoever? if so, this should be easy to figure out, if the successrate of an action is 0% or
100%... considering my assumption is correct in that it isn't i call that an intentional lie (really don't like that)

    -
n is missing on the character page
    -
same page, singular form and plural form are the same... english is not my native tongue, but even i know this is wrong

    -loggout should be logout

-activation email does not send (nevermind it's in the spam)

-ok tried round 93 (it says it ends in 21 hours)

-the intro is riddled with typo's and errors strat should be start, ou should be you, and so on and so on

    -networth sounds like utopia

-artwork is nice, even if some of it is stolen from various films... I recognize scarface (you can get into a lot of trouble with that)

i like the game spaceconquest, unfortunately i don't have much time the coming 21 hours, at least not enough to spend 2100 turns

I had a similar idea in making a game like this once, only it would be manhattan or chicago in the twenties... not with computers and stuff
