Tandem Events announced today that it is running its popular GamesDev MasterClasses in London on 31 March.

Created by the team behind the Develop Conference, the MasterClasses are three highly focused professional workshops where developers can broaden their knowledge, expand their skill set and mix with other developers.

Each one-day MasterClass will focus on a specific area of Games Development - Design, Production and Business. The course leaders, chosen for their teaching experience as much as their game development expertise, will tackle topical real-life issues in each area, share valuable information such as best practice, offer practical solutions and work through case studies.

Every class will have a maximum of 20 delegates and take place on the same day at the same venue so that all delegates can network during the coffee and lunch breaks. There will also be networking drinks at the end of the day.

    Production MasterClass

People & Process: How to Improve the Production Chain of Your Next Game
    Sylvain Liege, Co-founder, Liemur
Aimed at game producers, project managers, team leaders and any developers involved in managing a project with a medium to large team. Delegates will be equipped with a set of high-level tools with which to analyse their existing and previous projects. They will also gain new insight into what happens during a project and be able to offer new explanations and therefore solutions to most issues.

    Design MasterClass
How to Create a Game That’s Fit for Hollywood
    Hope Caton, Screenwriter and Lecturer
Aimed at game designers and level designers who work on story-based games, game producers and IP creators. Delegates will learn how to create a compelling plot and storyline, together with an understanding of the importance of timing so key dramatic points occur at the proper moments to drive the plot. They will also gain an in-depth knowledge of successful character creation.

    Business MasterClass
New Frontiers: How to Make Money from Social Games
Nicholas Lovell, Games Industry Consultant, GamesBrief
Aimed at Independent developers, traditional publishers, brand marketers and media owners interested in making money from games on Facebook, iPhone, Android and the wider web. Delegates will be given a powerful framework for designing social games and increasing their profitability in quick, easy steps. Covering customer acquisition, retention and monetisation strategies to build successful games, delegates will discover new ways to engage with their audience, the psychological levers used to drive return visitors, virality and revenue and new methods of generating revenues by segmenting your audience.

“These MasterClasses offer developers focused training in key skill areas, each one has very practical take away content, and as always with our events there’s the opportunity to meet fellow developers and share experiences. We’re very aware of today’s current economic climate, so we’ve made them great value and to make things even better, if you book by 9 March delegates can bring a colleague along for half-price,” said Andy Lane managing director of Tandem Events.
