going to the f2p model should work out a lot better for them. Their subscription base was dwindling quite rapidly, and by offering the game as f2p with a cash shop you can bet people will spend money in game to see the end content, and for flavor items as they get leveled up.

As whole bioware will probably make even more in terms of profit this way that with just a subscription plan.

I had a look today, there is huge amounts of user generated content there, especially for TF2 and DD, but I think most of it is game spoilers, with things like OP weapons and stuff like that

I think going Free-to-Play is definately a good start for Star Wars The Old Republic to head in. There rapid declining players that just dont want to pay that subscription price every month was rapidly increasing. However as free as they call it, hmmm. Well we know its going to be Pay to "win". Predictions on that changing? Not any time soon. May the Force be with you and your money >=)

Diablo!? Seriously?!
I've played Diablo since the original on PlayStation and Windows up to Lord of Destruction Expansion and I must say, it truly sucks!
Hear me out please!
I use to be within the Top Three of US East and West Ladder, I had several accounts on which Four, I mean Four Accounts FULL characters that were nothing but mere Mules. I had three two (was working on third) accounts that were strictly PvP and playable characters. From Hammerdin's, JZ's (JavaZon), BZ (BowZon), FS (FireSorce), CS (ColdSorce), LS (LightSorce), WWB (Whirlwind Barb), Smiters, SN (SummonNecro), to WWA (WhirlwindAss). Every known combination, I had and more than likely, two of each with different sets and skills of equipment from CoH's, CtA's, Enigma's, BotD, Exiles, HotO's, Forts to Grieves. I had PT's (Perfect Torches) for every class and enough to go around, I had Charms out thee arse! xD On a single Mule Account, every character was decked with all HR's and not Duped Hr's, well not that I know of for I spent many, many, many hours parking all my characters and such. Though was only able to get my Hammerdin, FarcastZon, FcFS (Farcast FireSorce), Smiter, and my Barb to 99, 98, 99, 99, 94 in Levels, grinding my arse off in Baal runs.
That being said comes to my opinion on why it sucks! Though I spent many hours, day's, months, years playing, I will never rid the fact on how "REPETITIVE" Diablo is.
In order to get anywhere in the game and to rank in the tops, you were FORCED to do Baal runs. Baal after Baal, after BAAL! I honestly, truly can't believe the time and effort I put in that game. I waited years along with millions that sat patiently for the Fourth Installment of Diablo (Diablo III. I say Fourth because you have Diablo, DII, DII Exp and now the new one.) I haven't played DIII yet, but from hearing from all my ongoing friends that continue to play along with playing my account to keep them alive, along with thousands, all have said it sucks! They gave me more details into why it sucks other than just bluntly stating the fact, which I am appalled by. I can name probably three hundred on top my head of Diablo players that waited and suspense for the Fourth Installment, which by the way was the most anticipated game going back as far as five years, if not more. Said Five on top of my head, but I know it's more than Five.
It's a cry in shame that Blizzard has really turned to desperate measures as to release such a game, KNOWING their fans were expecting something totally different in every aspect.
I was part of a crew for Diablo II Exp. which I went around while playing Diablo, asking what they all would love to see in the next installment and in Polls and Blogs and other means of resources to give the audience what they truly wanted. The TOP desired thing they wished for (which wasn't much to ask for, considering the possibilities and Blizzard would NOT have had to go through great lengths) was for better means of experience other than doing the same thing over and over and over again. Do to the repetitiveness of Leveling up, the Co-Founder of Diablo has lost nearly half of their respectful, top ranked players. Refrigerator, xSlayerx, Touji, Valhalla, DxIxAxBxLxOxS, PumpkinSmasher, Cerberus and then there was me... ShadowSama..... These players were dedicated, the Top Ten of US West Ladder (I said East, but I believe it was West. Been years since I last played, sorry.) We conformed a ongoing party for three days and nights in a row, sometimes on multiple occasions, to fend off Baal and to do Organ runs/Uber Runs.
All-in-all, it's highly disappointing when considering the time we've put into it.....
