Is AQ3D Aiming to be like WoW?

    Well recently I took this thing into mind. I don't know if this factual, but based of the way AQd3 is being created, it's similar to many of the mechanics in WoW. For example, the replica of the jump animation, travel forms, and the cheeky virtual design style of architecture. Furthermore, there is a lot more of updates to come that is similarly close to WoW. Now I know, AQD3 is simply a typical mmorpg. But do you think, since this game is free that it may become even more successful than WoW?

    They said they wanted to draw inspiration from vanilla WoW days and imo thats not necessarily a bad thing WoW is a great game and very successful so if they are taking inspiration from it I say good on them. I like both games ^^.

    Well that's good for artix to really look at a single handedly good representation of a successful mmorpg. However, which one do you think will become more successful in the next upcoming years?

    I feel like so far WoW has stagnated, it relies on each major update to bring players back where as AQ3D if still in development and its actually taking in community feedback and changing for the better. So as to which will be more successful in the following years I think WoW will always be good but AQ3D definitely has the potential to become a great game even better than its predecessor AQW.

    I highly agree with you statement! Hopefully, AQ3D will be capable of being launched around the world just like WoW.

    I have seen similarities and even comparisons of AQ3D being like WoW, but I don't think AQ3D is aiming to be like WoW. I think it's aiming to be its own game like the original AdventureQuest, but with inspirations from popular MMOs like WoW.

    I clearly remember on AQ3D Community VC while the peeps (including me) and artix discussing about game ideas he mentioned about AQ3D making like WoW and my friends also told me who were playing WoW that they do look the same.

    AQ3D is just getting some inspiration from WoW, not trying to become what it is.
    It is fine to get inspiration from other games but to just trying to become exactly like the other, it is not fine by me.
    Games need to stand out on their on with their own uniqueness compared to other in a way or an another.

    Yeah, I've started to see that. AQD3, is perhaps one of the most unique games I've play this year. Looking up to WoW can lead their game to success big time.

    I don't think AE is trying to be exactly like WoW because there are substantial differences here and there. AQ3D does have some unique stuff like different NPCs (Moglin race and Ornithon race), different art style, and different concepts; however, AQ3D does seem inspired by a lot of other popular games.

    That's exactly what I'm thinking. AQ3D's success would have to come from being a unique game, not leeching from other games, and I don't think AQ3D is trying to be like WoW.

    I think there are some similarities as well. But, not too similar that it's exact, I know it's their inspiration to be a successful MMORPG like WoW. so yeah
