Pros and Cons of Upgrading Forum to VB4

Should we move the forum to Vbulletin 4?

    OK, we need to take a long look at what all are the pros and cons of finally making this move. In the past, we have held up because of programs like Ogre wars and possibly the chat, but it would help to do more digging now and see what the advantages to moving to VB4 would be. Will add a poll as well:).

    Keeping some form of chat at this point is a must, that in it of itself would be too big of a loss but it seems pretty likely a replacement could be found. I personally don't care much about Ogre Wars but I could see some missing it. How about these, would they be safe?

    Arcade
    Video Directory
    Triple Triad

    vB4 could open up the possibly of new plugins and it'd give the forums a fresher look.

    Yes, we will definitely keep chat:). The arcade will also be fine.

    Triple Triad is probably fine:).

    Am hoping Ogre Wars will work as well or at least something to take its place.

    Arcade and Chat are most important in my opinion. The video directory too but not really for the directory more for the way it integrated with the video forum and making posting videos super easy. Keeping as much as possible is ideal though obviously, no one likes to lose features in an upgrade ^^

    Assuming at least the majority of stuff ports over I see no reason not too. I'd vote yes. Although I suggest caution. How about these:

    Rep System

    My brain is fried, I'm not sure which are tied to which at the moment.

    Thanks are part of the activity system, as is reputation, which has a vb4 version from the original source.

    Likes are actually part of vBSEO (which is why they disappeared for a couple days while vBSEO was off)... oh, vBSEO is dead, there's no support for it any more. If getting the vb4 version is still an option, there's that, otherwise another SEO tool would be preferred in its stead I'm sure.

    Ugh, I did not know VBSEO is dead. It was not a cheap plugin when we first got it. I know that much. Any idea what happened to them?

    The reason behind the end of vBSEO can be pretty much summed up as drama. Drama among the creators, that is, and the lack of support and eventual demise that resulted from it.

    Also, would like to move Ogre Wars and the Video Directory if possible. Somebody on Fiverr might can do update them to make the move.

    Chat is not going for sure:).

    Do not want to lose Ogre Wars either, but we eventually need to update the forum. Thus, we can either find an alternative to it and try to get it ready for VB4 somehow like was done with Living Avatars:)

    The developer is even thinking of a move to Wordpress to tie everything together. That may be far down the line though because a move like that could be extremely messy.
