Two things: First, I've started a personal blog on Wordpress here: sugoidrako

Second, on that blog, I've started a tutorial series that I hope will take anyone with some interest in game programming to a stage when they could program their own games, and teach themselves anything they need to know. After all, it's better to teach someone how to fish than to give them a fish.

I will be writing the first actual 'tutorial' bit tomorrow, but if you like it, you can show appreciation by sharing or adding a comment.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind, but I'll probably put a poll on the blog sometime soon.

Also, Chapter 0 and 1 are up. I'm hoping anybody following it are using Windows right now, because I haven't figured out how to get a compiler for LateralGM yet.

Right, I'm deeply unsatisfied with LateralGM, and any other alternative Game Maker IDE for Linux is either really unstable, or not being developed anymore.

I have made the decision that Game Maker is a bad choice for me to promote, as I can't even get screenshots and test stuff without rebooting. I have therefore decided something else is needed. I'm going to post a poll on my blog about what you guys want me to do instead.

I mean, Game Maker is easy, and a great beginner's tool, but I believe a language like Python or Java could be taught as long as I teach it right. This is mostly for the convenience of me, but I was planning to move on to a full programming language in the end anyway. And on the plus side, you get to learn a full programming language early. :D

To those that are worried about jumping straight to a full programming language, don't worry. I'll help you through the process if it kills me.

    Poll here: http://sugoidrako.wordpress.com/2011/01/16/bad-game-maker-bad/

I'm doing Python now, since I'm more proficient with it.
