    not sure, vladimir isnt seeing a lot of play right now (as far as i know), but on first glance, ryze is good on top lane because he can build a lot of armor AND gain damage because those armor items also give him mana. vladimir on the other hand builds ap and gain health for it thus becoming not necessarily more tanky but certainly more beefy. however, as far as i know, ryze has no mana item that will give him magic resist in order to mitigate % of vlad's damage, vlad has built in sustain and no recourse unlike ryze who needs mana.

    to summarize:

    vlad:
    bonus HP from AP
    gets free heal from Q
    has no recourse

    ryze:
    bonus damage from mana
    needs items / scarce mres
    needs mana

    i believe that vlad would win ryze in laning phase, but not necessarily in mid/late game.

    For late game is more like Ryze, the tank is doing a lot of damage.
    Vladimir is more boring to lane, always useful leaflets and his ulti in the late game.
    But my vote goes to Ryze. :D
