I've been using W7 for a while now. It has been really hard to move on from XP but time has come for another upgrade :)

Linux is perfectly fine for anyone, you just need to choose the right distro to fit your purpose. For beginners and people just wanting a well-balanced distro, then Ubuntu and Linux Mint are the best bets. My personal favourite OS is ArchLinux, and I think moving into the future, heightened by Microsoft's recent mistakes with W8, Linux will continue to rapidly grow and eventually outpace both Mac and Windows.

Care to elaborate? The only situation I can see it not being fine is for hardcore gamers who are unwilling to DualBoot or run a VM. Windows users often make ill-informed statements about Linux with no real first-hand experience, nor have you provided any evidence/examples to mount a substantial argument. The reality is that both Linux Mint and Ubuntu, among others, provide installations that are extremely easy. You can literally just grab the disk for both and they will do almost all of the installation for you with easy to follow steps. The quintessence of using Linux is effort, you can put no effort in and get a complete and stable OS (e.g. Ubuntu) or you can put lots of effort in and get an extremely customisable, bleeding-edge and fast experience (e.g. Gentoo).

Agreed, Linux Mint is super easy to install. It's literally run the install which just involves clicking next a few times and typing in some user information and bam the system is good to go. With Mint all you gotta do is install the graphics drivers which pops up automatically and does all the work for you, no searching. The rest is all included in the package (flash, java etc) along with a software manager to get everything else you need, no searching on the internet for applications needed and it should be safe from viruses as it's all from a trusted source.

This FUD that Linux is only for programmers and computer literate people has been untrue for years now. I use the command line these days because I want too, not because I have too. I can't remember the last time I was forced to use it. It's all GUI now and very simple, it's just takes someone willing to try something a little different to realize that.
