    Linux! I mostly use Windows on my PC for games and stuff but aside from on the desktop Linux is way better than Windows. Linux powers many of the worlds servers, a huge chunk of the web is on Linux servers. Android is built off a Linux base. Pretty much anything digital around you, clocks, stuff with digital timers like microwaves, heck even your fridge.. that all could be powered off a Linux base. You probably use it everyday and not even know it. :)

    And that is because Linux is Open Source, everyone is free to take it and modify it for there needs. They don't even have to tell you it's Linux, no branding required. Windows doesn't offer that luxury, you can't modify it without Microsoft's permission. Them Windows stickers that always come on PCs? It's not for looks, it's because Microsoft wants the branding.

    Window's as a desktop consumer OS is king of the castle and has been for a long time now but Linux is superior in pretty much every other market and vastly more important to the future of computing. Just look at the rapid rise of Android, it's very likely that would not of been possible without Linux and open source.
