    This is a very detailed play by email wargame. Turns are 11 days = 1 game month. Players take roles as leaders, generals, and admirals and work on either the Allied or Axis side to fight the war.

    There are three levels to the game and multiple types of activity. On the Strategic level, players are national leaders and deal with diplomacy, espionage, production, research, and planning the war.

    The Operational level is where the plans become movement of land, sea, and air units. OP commanders issue the movement orders and when that movement results in contact with the enemy, it is the Tactical level players who fight the battles.

    NO dice are used and no random number generating schemes. Results are based on conditions, strength of forces, and player decisions.

    The game is free to play and the rules are a free download. Everything is done via email.

    We are recruiting high-level command positions now for a new game beginning very soon. (May 2010)

    Yay! Another game based off of World War II! Oooooh.....It looks so fun, too! :D

    I'm sorry for the sarcasm. Actually, it does sound kinda unique.

    The WW2 era

    The reason WW2 is so often the subject of games, movies, and books is that it presented mankind with so many challenges of a unique nature.

    The game could be in any period as it is about diplomacy among players and teamwork.

    No other game yet, to my knowledge, combines all levels or mixes command among the players in this way.

    In addition to the warfare, players fight each other over strategies and some get very opinionated. I've had one player, in an earlier game, quit because Britain didn't control the Commonwealth. Another Naval Admiral quit because he had to get his Strategic leader's permission to build a naval base in the Caribbean. So there are personalities to deal with.

    There is depth without requiring heavy historic knowledge. The game begins historically but the players determine how things unfold. There isn't even an end-game condition.

    Players are not competing for victory points or flags captured. They do earn personal Command & Control points, which they can use to influence battle or espionage outcomes.

    I'll read the rules later tonight. Might be cool to run a game here.

    Also, I deleted the duplicate thread in the MUD section. PBeM games aren't MUDs, they are just similar in a few ways.

    A CALL TO ARMS

    January 31, 2011 Game Turn Eight May 1940

    We need 10 players immediately as the war just expanded. Italy joined Germany by invading France. This opens up the Med Sea Front. There are not enough players to cover all the positions.

    Strategic, Operational, Tactical, Espionage, Army, Navy, Air Decision-making roles all.

    This is the Big Picture game you have been dreaming of. You will need 5+ hours per week for planning, mapwork, teamwork, orders, and of course, combat.

    Worth a look. Cost=0 Value= Priceless
