Space Cowboy Online is a free MMO by the same makers of FLYFF that is a cross between a space FPS and a MMORPG. As can be seen in the screenshots, you fly your very own space fighter called a Gear that you can be upgraded in several ways such as performance, engines, radar, color, and weapons. There are 4 different Gears to choose from and each one is different in skill and items in order to satisfy the varying tastes of gamers. Since the FPS aspect of the game lends itself well to PvP combat it is not surprising that Space Cowboy Online offers plenty of PvP action. PvP can take place in various ways in order to please your itchy trigger finger such as 1-on-1, group/party battles, brigade battles, and even large scale nation wars. Large scale nation wars are particularly interesting because enemies can occupy other nations. Overall, Space Cowboy Online is one of the best free MMOFPS games yet but be prepared for a huge download.

Key Features

• Four different Gears aka space ships: B-Gear for Brandy Burg, I-Gear for Idle Sniper, A-Gear for Anime Mortar, and M-Gear for Meadow Bugle.
• Voice communication system helps with both battles and formations with other players.
• Formations aka parties/groups consist of up to 6 players and can take different shapes such as the triangle formation and the X form formation.
• Brigades act as guilds and can contain up to 40 members. Each brigade has its own mark that identifies it among other brigades.
• Warring nation system where you choose one nation for your entire account at level 11. Each nation taxes different depending on the population. Like World of Warcraft, you can not trade or chat with other gamers in the opposing nation.

Comment: This game isn't slow paced if you are actually fighting people. There are many good aspects of the game that are fun, like the PvP. It may not be as good as other games like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars, but it is a nice change from the usual MMORPG that a person would play.
