The Match-Up

Very few MMORPGs can give World of Warcraft a real challenge and even fewer of those charge subscription fees. However, the #1 ranked MMO on GameOgre.com's Top MMORPG list went up against the #2 ranked MMO and nearly lost. That's right, nearly. After appearing to lose at first glance by only .22 of a point (which would have been the closest match yet), it was discovered that one voter had tried to vote for both games twice. Thus, World of Warcraft barely escapes into the finals to take on the winner of Guild Wars versus Maple Story. Eve Online was almost able to bring down the MMO juggernaut due to a combination of very deep game play in a science fiction setting and players who just simply love to hate WoW. Given how close WoW came to defeat this week by another pay-to-play MMO, it will be interesting to see how it fares against a free MMO in the finals. Furthermore, it should be noted that WoW has yet to face a free game in the tournament as it has defeated the likes of EverQuest 2, City of Heroes, and now Eve Online.

Comment: Best MMORPG I have ever played. Played it for a year and a half and loved it. Every other MMORPG I have tried to play seems so boring. Truly the best MMORPG out there.

Comment: So entertaining it's scary. Sure it lags a bit, but not as much as Eve Online. I can play this for hours and not lag at all. I played Eve Online for 10 minutes and it crashed. Not only that but WoW is only 2 years old and it is at the top of the ladder already.

Comment: Completely awesome. Nice graphics, attack system, and animations. Best sounds in all of the games.  I hope it stays as "King of MMORPGs". 10 all the way.

Comment: WoW is mediocre at best. Most of its content is the grind, which appeals to a very limited number of players. I for one, hate the grind. The game was a good concept, but didn't go very far with it.

Comment: EVE Online has everything that WOW hasn't: great graphics, a fantastic player base, and breathtaking game play that can never be the same. This is a good mile away from World of Warcraft's childish graphics, dreary player base, and monotonous game play that just seems to go on forever. EVE is amazingly one of the oldest MMORPGs still with a big player base on the market today. To compare these two games is like comparing a Lourie masterpiece with chicken scratchings. However, if you want a game full of gold farmers, pathetically poor PvP, and RuneScape dropouts, then vote World of Warcraft at your leisure.
