If you’re into mobile gaming, you’ll want to get a phone that delivers the best possible gaming experience. There are many things to consider besides price, including battery life, screen resolution, and gaming power. Here are 4 of the top phones for gaming in comparison.

OnePlus 5

The OnePlus 5 has the same screen size and resolution as the iPhone 8 Plus, but it’s the most affordable of these phones with a starting price at $479. With 8 GB of Ram and 128 GB of internal storage, it’s extremely powerful for a Smartphone. The screen size of 5.5 inches is just the perfect display to play many of your favorite games on the go. Although it only has a 1080p resolution, and some phones offer more, it’s still sharp enough for everyday use.

This phone actually looks very similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. While it only has a speaker at the bottom of the phone instead of a dual speaker setup, you can use headphones for a better gaming experience. Another area where this phone beats all the others: battery life. While it’s unclear how long you can use it for gaming, it lasts for over 18 hours when you’re watching a video. That’s impressive.

Galaxy S8+

Samsung fans won’t mind shelling out for this new Galaxy S8+, but it’s worth noting that it’s even more expensive than the latest iPhone at $824. To make up for it, it has a bigger screen at 6.2 inches and an impressive 1440p resolution, which makes gaming on your phone pure pleasure. While it’s low on internal storage at 64 GB, it has a decent battery life, only slightly shorter than the OnePlus 5.

The Galaxy S8+ has a sleek design that makes it very comfortable to hold while gaming. The unusual screen size doesn’t fit the 16 x 9 ratio that is used by most game developers, but this leaves black bars on the side of the display that actually make it more comfortable to hold.

iPhone 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 Plus is a great gaming phone. With a 5.5 inch screen and a 1080p screen resolution, it can hold its own next to the OnePlus 5. It features top and bottom speakers for an amazing sound experience. Its internal storage at 256 GB beats every other phone on this list, but it only has 3 GB of RAM, where the Galaxy S8+ features 4 GB. Nevertheless, it offers exceptional performance due to its impressive Apple GPU. And with a battery life of almost 15 hours of video watching, you can get through the day just fine.

This phone is extremely powerful for gaming. In fact, it will run simple games faster than any other phone on this list. Due to its size, it’s not the most comfortable phone to use for gaming, and it can also get a little too hot.

Razor Phone

The Razor Phone differs from an ordinary smartphone, because it has 8 GB of RAM as well as a 5.7-inch screen, which is optimal for gaming. The Razor Phone also comes with built-in speaker systems to amplify the sounds using Dolby ATMOS. One downside is that this phone has to be used with Bluetooth, which can drain the battery sooner than it should. In fact, if you’re looking for smartphones for gaming, you may be better off with one of the other phones mentioned above, because serious gamers use gaming headsets to cancel out background noise. For that Bluetooth just isn’t enough.

Do You Need a Dedicated Gaming Phone?

Mobile gaming is definitely growing. More than half the U.S. population was playing mobile games in 2016, and that number will only go up. Considering that most phones are designed to do a variety of things besides gaming, such as calling, texting, GPS tracking, browsing the Internet, and taking pictures, you may wonder if your phone can really do it all. For hardcore gamers, it certainly makes sense to find a Smartphone dedicated to play the latest and greatest games.

  1. I don’t personally use my phone for gaming purposes that much (i have done so, but not in a long time), but i do agree that it’s important to have a good phone for gaming, if you prefer playing games with it.

  2. Most of the new smartphone flagships of whichever current year it is are good at playing games. And even some of these older phones, like the iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy S8+, can still run today’s mobile games, but if you’re looking at getting any of those phones in 2021 (or whichever current year it is), you’d be better off getting a newer phone. Obviously, the iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy S8+ were great phones for the year 2017, but so much has improved in just four years.
