Other than monsters, I find the rocks that come out from the ground at random intervals to be the cause of death in the arena quite often, but that's usually if you stand in the center of the map. Usually the two safe spots are near the spawn point or close to the NPC at the very end.

I have died to those rocks a few times because of that speed they spawn and sometimes when I touch them, I don't take damage so it's probably some kinda of hitbox trickery.

Oh, yes. I've fallen to death a handful of times, and I succumbed to the flames of the brazier and fireplace in Yulgar's Inn.

Sometimes I die in Yulgar's Inn when I'm AFK, not realizing where I'm even standing. Takes some time to realize that you can die by environmental effects.

Either that or Guardian, you are going to survive longer with those heals.

Doesn't necessarily mean you'll survive every dungeon. I think the biggest factor of players dying less often isn't the class, but the lack of level scaling, especially when you traverse back to older dungeons. Even players died quite often in certain places (particularly challenge maps) where bosses were on par with players' levels before even potion cooldowns were nerfed.

@Snowy is confirmed to be that guy that stands on the fire and not realizing that it hurts.

And of course there's that... I think I was standing in the fire pit (not realizing that I was standing there) and went away from my keyboard for a while to go eat. Wouldn't be the first time I died from that specific spot either; I want to believe that the reason I accidentally stand there is because that spot is close to an NPC (Yulgar).

Excuses and more excuses. Such things could be easily avoided but because character deaths are not penelized, this just keeps happening. Players would think more about what they are doing if such a thing existed.

How about gold penalty when your character die, your death will cost half of your gold, it can be a good solution to punish botters and make players more aware of their death. It also able to minimize the gold inflation value.
And maybe bank can offer gold saving with cost 10% of your gold that is saved there.

That penalty is a bit too harsh, have you considered the fact that there are players with millions of gold? I am sure it would make people quit the game and it could even make those players quit who don't have a lot of gold. I can see the player numbers dropping already.

Not a good idea, especially for new players starting out the game. I agree that character death should have penalties, but not something extreme, and probably with certain exceptions as well (penalties only in dungeons, but not in regular maps or during PvP/dueling). Sort of like a permadeath inside dungeons and your way of getting revived is when someone uses Necromancer; otherwise, you have to leave the dungeon. That kind of challenge could really improve gameplay and also encourage players to improvise on stats (focus more on defense stats than purely attack stats).

The stats on gear just get jacked to the point that getting killed becomes a difficult thing to do.
