When I started playing Runescape, I was immediately hooked. Although the gameplay was not the best, I was so addicted I wasn't finishing homework and it was effecting my social life, until I just upped and quit.

Then, my friend told me about WoW, and I downloaded the 10 day free trial- and I was hooked to that. The gameplay was still pretty much a grindfest.

All the games I tried between that time period, namely Shaiya, Maplestory, Tibia, and Perfect World, none of them hooked me, but a lot of them were better games, like Perfect World. (In my opinion.)

What makes a game addicting? Runescape seems like the most boring of all the games, click on a monster and pray that you kill it, but it was also the most addicting. WTF?

The amount of things you can do makes it addicting. Always wanting to try new stuff, getting the best stuff, things like that.

To me the social aspect is what hooks me, runescape and WoW are far more social with more talkative communitys than the other games you said.

I also belive thats the reason why i've got nearly 50 posts on here in my first 3 days. :)

I tried to keep every stat the same, so I had like, uhm, around 35 or something for Mage LVL, STR, ATK, DEF, and Ranged

    Ohhh, oops, sorry ;D

Uhm, I tried keeping those the same too... Hahaha

I have obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) so I'm like that.

Around 30 for everything, but I remember I maxed out woodcutting to 45.

I think it's how simple the features are... if a game has a ton a feature but they are really hard to find or hard to use it's not fun.

What makes it addicting is the amount of things you can do.Happened to me before.

I don't see what component makes it so addicting. The graphics? No.
