    English is hard to a foreigner. :p I forget which languages were ranked as the hardest, but I think Polish, English, and Chinese/Japanese were up there.

    Quite a while, even if you're dedicated. A friend of mine has been working on it for two years and can speak and write some basic stuff, but to be able to understand, say, purely-Japanese anime, you'd have a huge challenge in front of you.
