Triple Triad forum dupes - please ignore

Most returns are welcome here on the forum. The only exception to that is somebody who was been hit with the big club. This happened this weekend as a member who was banned many months ago for using multiple accounts tried to start trouble in posts and chat. Thanks goes out to the mods who took care of those posts. Chat was not quite as lucky despite being mostly trouble free.

This person should now be taken care of, but would like to make it to where chat is less vulnerable to somebody who was banned to make a new account and try to disrupt the community.

The first option is restricting the chat box to members with at least a set number of posts. However, this takes away people seeing our community interact just because one bad member had to whine about being banned.

That said, considering making all registered users (the User Group) as spectators of chat until they move into a group between Ogre Regulars and new members. It could be something like 15 to 30 posts or something and the desire to participate in chat. That way, a new user can not just sign up and disrupt chat again. Plus, all members would be able to still see chat.

Anybody have any more pros and cons on a possible new User Group for this?
