    It does and Valve have said they're working on some cross-game compatibility for L4D and 2, so I can't wait to see how that turns out.

    That's a good question, dieanna. The bottom line for them (I think) is that they realised, all the crazy things that they wanted to do on L4D as expansion/DLC materials would take a major re-work of their engine. They might have been able to update a few things on L4D but over the time they worked on ideas for 2, that grew beyond the scope of the planned updates. I remember reading and watching an interview on a site or two where Doug Lombardi explains some of the reasons behind it. If I can find it, I'll link it here.

    I was quite shocked to hear them announce the 2nd at E3 but since it has a lot of new core upgrades, I can see why they went with #2 rather than updating #1. Valve have said they are continuing to provide fresh content for #1 though - we're getting new DLC soon, we just don't know what it is.

    Guild Wars made new games instead of just updating because it has no monthly fee or item mall... it would of been impossible for the game to support it self if each game was free. They weren't being money hungry... MMO's are expensive to keep running.

    You could say Valve is being greedy but then you would have to say that almost every company is... it cost money to make the "updates" so it would make sense if they prefer to get there money back and more for future projects.

    I don't think we can say anything negative or positive about Left 4 Dead 2 until we get it in our hands, play the heck out of it and see how it stacks up to the original. I know it's a definite purchase for me, so Valve have my cash in that respect.

    I'm not sure yet, they've been pretty sketchy on info. I know that right out of the box, the old PC L4D maps will work with L4D2, so the mod community will be happy. I am kind-of hoping that it'll be in terms of characters and maps for the consoles etc.

    I'm champing at the bit waiting on information really. I am going to buy the game regardless, since I loved L4D.

    Zoey is another one of my favourites. I'd love to see the roster expanded to include the original 4 + the new 4. I'm not sure how they'd handle that though since L4D works well with the custom/context dialogue from the characters and how they interact - still, it's Valve and they already have my soul just as much as Gearbox and Bioware.
