  6. Easily Super Mario Bros. for best 8 bit game. If you were to play the game, not having any prior knowledge of the game beforehand, the amount of exploration into levels is interesting, especially for the warp pipes. Other things that make the game fun are the powerups and the tricks you can do (clip through walls, shell kick for infinite 1UP, and the list goes on). Plus the game is always fun to revisit, even with newer Super Mario titles.

    Second best is probably The Legend of Zelda, also for a similar reason, the amount of exploration. But the game is a little harder than Super Mario Bros., which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but can be a bit annoying with some of the overworld battles. But mainly, the TLoZ series has improved so much with games like A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time that it's hard to look back to the game that started the whole series.
