    it is a first fps game that featured hight and depth in the 3d environment. fps games before doom 1 were all just a bunch of corridors with no stairs or anything.
    i played doom 1, there are many very similar games by the same company, they are all fun to play (haxen, heretic)

    Maybe once on a homebrew device. People like porting Doom onto many devices apparently. It's quite a fun game, but I personally prefer more modern games.
