I would love to be able to make a game and then sell it! How long would it take for a complete beginner to make a decent game with Blender?

I have no idea really, but probably a long time. Though it depends on how big you want the game to be, but 'my guess is a few months.

Probably a very long time. You'd have to learn how to program with Blender as well as model with Blender.

If you don't mind going 2D, there's always the option of learning Game Maker.

I went through all the tutorials in about 2 weeks. It was probably 1-2 months before I understood all of Game Maker and how to use everything.

But that was just me, and it might take longer or quicker for other people. It depends on how much time per day you want to spend learning it, and how much time you spend using it.

Programming is difficult, and no-one writes a program that's free of bugs in development (unless it's really simple), which is why people say stuff like programming is 10% writing code, 90% debugging. Why do I say this? Because I'm telling you it so that you won't get as frustrated if you start programming and write a buggy game yourself.

By my guess, to learn Game Maker's fundamentals, and how things work, would probably take from 1 week to 3 weeks depending on how quickly your brain can grasp the concepts. Personally, by the time you're at that level, and you understand the fundamentals, you could teach yourself everything else. To actually get to a stage when you know all the tools Game Maker provides you with, and how to use them, will take... maybe 2 months to 3 months.

So to answer your question, probably. It depends on how much time per day you spend learning it, and how much time you spend afterwards getting used to everything.

You might could learn a lot just by messing around with an open source game. A couple of my friends learned that way.

programming no, scripting possibly yes if you're quick learner

These things take time, if you want to be good at it and know how to do stuff, there is no denying that. You have to be patient.

GameSalad is another good resource for beginning game devs, if you only need 2d anyway...
