  3. Dragon Ball Z. For some reason I get bored when watching One Piece, but Dragon Ball Z is one of the best animes for its amazing concepts.

    I like Dragon Ball Z.

One piece is also a good anime, but I do not really follow the story.

  8. Now that One Piece actually has had something comparable to Dragon Ball Z for some time, I think there's now a genuine discussion for which anime is better just based on the debut of Super Saiyan vs. Gear 5.

And personally I'd say Dragon Ball Z is better for how it was introduced. You have 50+ episodes of the Z fighters battling Frieza leading up to the climax of the saga (which some may argue is too many episodes, but you could just watch DBZ Kai instead), and in the build up, you actually see a lot of character development (e.g. Vegeta isn't as evil as he seems once he reveals Frieza's destruction of Planet Vegeta and the Saiyans, Goku's emotions after Krillin's death reveals a lot about his friendship going back to the original Dragon Ball, and Gohan has proven to be a worthy fighter based on his training from Piccolo).
