What do you guys think is the best mobile gaming device today? This includes dedicated devices like 3ds and Vita, as well as smartphones and tablets. Since there are a lot of different models lets just lump smartphones together and tablets together unless they offer something different like say the Xperia Play which has dedicated hardware controls.

So what do you guys say? I'm gonna list some here:

    Nintendo 3DS (all models)
    Playstation Vita
    Nintendo DS (all models)
    PSP
    Smartphone
    Tablet
    Nvidia Shield Portable
    Nintendo Switch

    Please explain why!

Smartphone because they made emulators for everything (my boy for gameboy) (ppsspp for psp cool games) (drastic for Nintendo) ......

On the topic of emulators (legal emulation only), PSP supports a number of emulators. It's actually a surprising good emulation device.

I would definitely say the Nintendo Switch because a smartphone can't play games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or even the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey. I'd probably place the 3DS second on the list, since it can play 3DS games, DS games, and even virtual console games from the eShop, so that pretty much just eliminates the DS. When it comes to smartphones or tablets, I would probably choose smartphones for the convenience of putting it in your pocket wherever you go.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. I am really liking this phone. Huge display is great for playing games.

Huh, Nintendo DS Lite was a part of my childhood but smartphones are better because they are simple and you can do many things with them

You can't do a whole lot with smartphones, especially since control is the biggest limitation. With handheld consoles like the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo DS, you at least have different buttons. I tend to think of smartphones as being for simpler games while handheld consoles are for more elaborate games, and so you have two different demographics because of that.
