I've been messing with an AMD card lately and I gotta say they've really improved their software an the card has been solid. However it hasn't be nearly as smooth as Nvidia. Not sure if it's the card but the recording software has been really hit an miss, trying to use the encoder with OBS has also been problematic. I can't say I'd want to stay on AMD at this point... I'd really miss Shadowplay.

  16. I slightly prefer Nvidia over AMD, probably because I've used more computers with Nvidia than AMD. They're both great, so I wouldn't have too much of an opinion on either graphics card.

Vega was suppose to be AMD's big return to high end gaming GPUs... instead it's a disaster of a platform that barely match their Nvidia equivalents in ability from a year ago, cost the same or more as them and use WAY more power. Not to mention Nvidia still has a card another tier above the best AMD card. It's disappointing to say the least.

AMD remains a solid choice in the mid-range... well they would if miners weren't driving up the cost to insane amounts but beyond that Nvidia has the unplugged market and the high end market firmly in hand. Which is sad, because we need AMD to succeed to keep competition going but they just haven't been able to put together a good GPU platform in a long while now. Hopefully Navi will be better. :/

That said, one of AMD's saving graces is freesync. Until Nvidia drops it's crazy premium on gSync monitors, the only way to get adaptive sync at reasonable cost is on AMD. Adaptive sync is really really good too, it's one of them things that you just don't wanna go back... sooo smooth.
