Since Terraria is a 2D game, building large areas is harder. when compared with Minecraft (3D). Did you ever try to build a city in the game?

I cant understand how wound 3D build be easier then 2D ? Who ever played this game for a while had some kind of city. I usually make floating ones with lots of portals, since its safer and looks cooler on map

Depends on how you define "city". I would probably describe the things I've built as "small towns" than cities, just because it's time-consuming to build several buildings.

I think it's exactly because Terraria is 2D, and it's more about creating something "expressible" rather than creating something just for the sake of creating it (or because it's "easier"). 3D tends to allow for more creativity; you could build fountains in the middle of your city, make your builds look amorphous and still presentable, plant trees, and do all sorts of other things. In Terraria, it's more like thinking outside of the box, and while you can create anything, it just doesn't have that same level of presentation and expression as a 3D game. Like maybe a building you make looks square, and it just doesn't have the same level of emphasis that a 3D building has.
