    Melee is by far the easiest, no need to buy more supplies to kill with, just buy a weapon and hack away

    Mage is my personal favorite, many uses

    range is ok, and i like it more than melee because melee is so boring. decently cheap if you do it right and you don't have to stand right next to them

    I am definitely a Ranger yet I am found meleeing the most.

    In other senses.....If you can range something as effectively as you can kill it with melee then I will use range.

    Melee. Better to get up close and personal than to shoot something from a distance, like an arrow or a spell, especially in this game.

    If you get right up to 'em, you can take a lot more damage. Take the difference between meleeing or mage/ranging steel or iron dragons. Melee, you need antifire pots, an antidragon shield (unless you use super antifires), and prayer potions or lots of food to stop the melee damage. Mage/range just takes the antifire and the shield, plus an emergency food or two, and takes no damage from melee (and you're blocking the fire)
