Heh, now that I got your attention, here's the type of online game I want: One that allows you to completely avoid playing with (grouping) with the "bad players" such as ninjas, idiots, and so on either through there being no such people or through them being somehow easy to avoid. As is, most online games literally force you to deal with the bottom of the barrel via random dungeons, pvp instances, and so on.
I simply want a online game in the fantasy genre that negates/minimizes their negative impact upon my experience.

Have you considered single player games?

Anywho, Runescape does not force you to interact with "bad players" for any reason, though they will be there throughout the game world you can simply hide the chat and not see anything they say. Well, as far as pvping you could run into anyone, but it's pvp. Kill them.

Kingdom of Loathing can be played without ever even acknowledging the existence of other players, though it being a text-based game can be a turn-off (and it's not particularly a fantasy game, it's got all sorts of stuff). It does tend to not have many "bad players" at all, though.

Rusty Hearts is another one where you don't actually have to interact with other people, though you can choose to party up with people for dungeons. It also doesn't have an immense playerbase that you see all the time, you can easily run into people only infrequently. It's just not a large gameworld, so if you're into exploring a vast map, you need to choose something else.

If you're looking for a game that minimizes interaction with people like that, your only guaranteed solutions are single player. If you want interaction, but not like that, find a game that allows clan groupings, and find a clan to game with. Those would be your best bets anyway. In runescape I always turn private chat and talk only to people in my clan chat, and I only play rusty hearts with people from gameogre or solo. Negative impact: minimized.

Yeah, I have tons of single player rpgs. Played all those you mentioned...only enjoyed Rusty Hearts, and even then it's appeal didn't last long. Was just hoping to find a game that isn't marketed towards the masses.
Guess I need to face the facts- bad players are the market's current target audience and those with intelligence are expected to carry the bad ones on their backs.

    define bad?

"ninjas, idiots, and so on" are too general..because if a high level and well respected player acts like an idiot at times..is that considered bad?

if a player always targets you at PvP areas...is he considered bad?

if a newbie asks alot of questions..is he considered bad?

    Read past the title.
The title was simply to grab your attention...
The "ban" was more of a "discourages/minimizes their impact on the game."

And "bad player" means "bad person in a video game" to me. Someone who's a jerk, lies, steals, and cheats. I want a game that deals with them, so I don't have to.

ah well, almost all games has alot of those immature people...

most mods, mute or warn them but they dont ever really ban them..especially if theyre paying players [like they pay to get premium items and stuff]..unless theyre really doing something illegal like botting and hacking..

    so its not that easy..

    Greetings to all!

I'd like to ask you for advice - can anyone recommend any online RPG game similar to Diablo (I used to play Diablo I, Diablo II and Diablo II LOD as well)?

I used to play Runescape (runescape.com) for almost 2 years and liked it (many different skills - mostly non-combat ones). Now I've got some time again and I'd like to play something interesting. I found the game called Mythos (mythos.com) but when I installed it I found out that it requires some key for CBT or what. And it's currently almost not being developed and therefore is practically a dead project.

I don't want to spend weeks over the net finding the right game for me. Installing, testing, uninstalling and finding again... So I'd like to ask you for your tips and experiences. I require following:

    1. I'm not involved in total fantasy worlds like Final Fantasy, Avatar etc. I want classical Middle Ages battle with melee weapons sword and magic :)

    2. I don't require amazing graphics and effects

    3. Nothing much time-consuming - anyway I'm a busy man with a lot of work to do :) That's the thing I disliked in Runescape - I haven't been playing it for a longer time (6 months) and there were so many updates that the game principals were totally different. I'm looking for a game which can be played once or twice a week for a few hours. I prefer less non-combat skills (if any). As I mentioned - just something like Diablo :)

    4. I prefer free to play games but if it will be worth it I'll pay a reasonable price.

Thank you very much for your tips and advices.

    Quick and easy answer :)

Thank you very much, Cat. This game looks exactly as I imagined. I think I'm going to test the beta release to find out...

    Many thanks!

    With kind regards
    Peter

    Moved

Mythos was dying a year or two ago but was quickly taken over by HanbitSoft who has had the game in heavy development ever since, it's entering open beta testing on February 2nd, with a full release later this year. It's far from dead. Mythos was originally being made by the original minds behind Diablo 1&2, the game is vary similar.

Also keep on eye on Torchlight 2, it's being made by the original core team behind Diablo 1&2 and is a lot like Diablo gameplay wise. It's also gonna have similar online features. It'll be releasing later this year for $20. They are also currently working on a Torchlight MMO but it's still at least a year off.

I'm trying Mythos global right now (the EU one retired), and it REALLY reminds me of Diablo 2, except it's 3D and you can zoom in on your character. XD

There will always be good and bad players. You just have to avoid the bad players as often as you can.

I would suggest finding a game with a good guild system, so you could join up with like-minded players and never have to interact with anyone outside the guild.

Made my Warcraft experience a lot more enjoyable, lemme tell you.

There's no games that ban bad players lol... I think you should stick with single player games if you don't like playing with other people just because they are bad lol.

He could play EVE Online! EVE doesn't ban bad players, but you can make a lot of game money blowing them up or scamming them out of all their space goodies. Profiting off bad players is just as good as never dealing with them, I think.
