    Hey

    I have question.

Who here, or who knows a person, that can't add contacts or see its contacts in the new hotmail, using a Windows XP computer with a really old version of Internet Explorer, or other old browser?

I have a neighbour who's is having issues with that and I was wondering if someone else in a similar situation has that problem too.

Don't use OUTLOOK, switch back to old hotmail

One of my hotmail accounts switch back to outlook, and it cannot add any contact or using msn. I have to switch back to hotmail instead.

Like I said a neighbour has this problem.

    I don't have XP and I don't use Hotmail, I use Gmail.

But seeing from your reaction, I see that my neighbour isn't the only one with the problem.

How can my neighbour switch back to old hotmail?

It might also be that the new hotmail requires the added contact to accept before it appears in your contact list?

He doesn't have that option! He has the icon, but the only options to be found in that are: feedback and help.

My neighbour has used both options and nothing leads to a response.

My father also has hotmail and none of his contacts have accepted, but they are in his list. But then he has people, even though he never received a message that his hotmail would be updated to live mail. Another difference is that my father has windows vista and uses IE9.

My neighbour has XP and uses some version of internet explorer. Don't ask me what kind, because my javascript browser sniffer thinks his internet explorer is google chrome, which it clearly isn't.

I really begin to think that it isn't possible to use the new hotmail on windows XP, because XP can't support new browser versions. I think hotmail uses CSS3, which the old browsers can't support.

Because my neighbour apparently can't switch back to old hotmail, the option isn't there, then I reckon that my neighbour only has two possible options left:

    1) switch to gmail
    2) get a new computer

This is what Outlook looks like, this is what your neighbor has correct?

^ actually that is what he has now, but he didn't have that in Internet Explorer.

I installed fiefox 15.1 on his windows XP computer and it works fine now.

So it was certainly a IE and XP combo that give him the problems.

I think it is because the older versions of IE on XP don't support CSS3. Apparently the new hotmail stylesheets operates on that.

He should be able to switch back to "hotmail" via the gear now if he'd like. Outlook is kinda nice but contacts works completely different, it's a lot more based on outside services like Google, Facebook etc kinda handy if you use say Facebook as it'll automatically pull all the info in but leaves MSN users out to dry, don't think it even has messenger anymore... believe it replaced it with Facebook chat.

yeah he should be able to now. He couldn't before, but with Firefox he can. I doubt he wants to switch back though. He's the kind of guy that is happy if it works again. The new contacts is not that handy for him though, as he doesn't use facebook or google+.
