Allods Online

Allods is a F2P 3D MMORPG, which are very well-known to some as, WoW clone. Allods is based on a Fantasy theme with a slight mix of Sci-fi in it. This game has a strong in-depth focus on the Storyline as well as the PvP context. Besides that, the game graphics are superb, the in-game features greatly resembles WoW, and the character's progress in terms of level, skill, stats are well developed.

One thing that is very noticable and should be given some credit is the Allods Launcher/Patcher. Besides patching your Allods Online to the latest version (of course that's what patchers do), it also checks your files and make sure its consistent and syncs with the latest file. If there are any corrupted files, it will auto-download a new file to replace it. No more having to search all over the net to find a missing file.

Ok, back to the game. Once you downloaded and registered, and logged into the game, you will be brought to this screen. Here, you choose your side, whether to fight for the League(left) or the Empire(right), and you also choose which class do you want to play as. Elv, Kanian or Gibberlings for League. Xanagadians, Arisen or Orcs for Empire. What's astounding is that, each class are distinguishable betwen races. Elven Paladins become Templars but Orc Paladins become Reavers, both which are not totally similar. Each class for each race has its own special ability, which totals up to 28 different Archtypes to choose from. Each of these archetypes have their own flavor and style in the form of aesthetics and a passive ability that enhances their most common attribute.

With your character created, you’ll begin playing with one of the very few ‘unique’ elements of Allods, that is, an instanced starting area/tutorial with an active story and interactive gameplay. The actual area you begin playing in is decided by your faction – with The League beginning in their home city as it is destroyed, and your tutorial following the escape; and The Empire beginning on a flying airship in the midst of battle following the destruction of the League spaceship and your teleportation to the Empire City.

Moving forward, Allods does bring some innovation to the table, and it comes in quite a few forms. The first, fatigue, is an innovative feature whereby the longer a person spends playing and completing quests, the more fatigue they can accumulate. Fatigue appears in your character’s experience bar in blue and gains at a 1:1 ratio with regular experience. Fatigue accumulated can be exchanged at an Innkeeper (Rest) for additional experience up to a certain amount each day, which essentially creates a soft ‘cap’ on experience. Players are free to continue playing and leveling even after they reached their daily cap on fatigue, but they’ll basically be gaining EXP at 50% of the normal rate because they won’t be able to exchange fatigue for EXP.

The talent system in Allods also boasts some ingenuity. Players receive one talent point each time they level up, which are then used to ‘purchase’ a new skill, or upgrade another one in the talent tree. Points must be assigned in the first tier before you can descend to the second, and so on.

About levelling in Allods, there are indeed some notable differences. For a start, it’s much slower than the usual, taking more than five hours of play to attain a level 7 character, but then, there are literally hundreds and hundreds of quests to complete (that show up on your map to make finding them easier), so there's never need to grind.

The ability to add stat points to individual statistics upon reaching a new level allows fantastic PvP and character customization at later levels, as every player will essentially be different to the next depending on their choice in stats. Allocated stats are irreversible except using an item from the cash shop.

Allods is certainly a game to try. If players can put aside the fact that it's very much like WoW and just enjoy the game, Allods Online would be a very nice game to play. It's hard to describe it, but it's so much easier if players play and experience for themselves.

These two pics show the ingame graphics as well as the skills system:

The game client is downloadable here. The client size is about 2.7GB and it should run smoothly on above average computers.

Enjoy
